  • This is an opportunity to support the Army’s biometric collection mission to collect, match and compare fingerprints, iris images, and facial photos to establish identity superiority and maintain identity dominance in all areas of military operations. As a key member of the biometric team, you will work closely with the warfighter to ensure 100% availability of all biometric data. The successful candidate will oversee the integration, maintenance, and monitoring of all hardware and software of the Biometric System of Systems capability, ensure constant availability of all technical resources, and provide technical direction to IT support staff. It’s a high-level role of eliciting/divining/negotiating/arbitrating/influencing stakeholder requirements/concerns and developing the architecture and roadmap of biometric systems.
  • With a strong IT baseline, the ideal candidate will gain detailed knowledge on biometric software and hardware and be in a strategic position to assist our warfighters in ensuring all systems are 100% ready to successfully conduct biometric missions.

Tasks:

  • This position involves leading systems engineering activities that support integrating and delivering new systems supporting standalone, remote, and cloud technologies.
  • Participate in analysis, fielding, and sustainment of all Biometrics systems ranging from standalone systems to cloud-based services
  • Lead the migration of traditional applications and services to cloud-based services
  • Provides technical leadership in the integration and test of complex large-scale computer integrated networks and cloud solutions.
  • Provide identification/resolution of problems within existing systems, enhancement of existing systems, and design/implementation of new cloud systems.
  • Design, develop, and maintain software applications and operating systems for a variety of engineering applications that involves Mobile and web development, SQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQLite, etc.), Docker, Nginx, Python, Dart, Java, C++, JavaScript, freeIPA, Flutter, and Android technologies.
  • Detailed knowledge of Ubuntu Linux and system network communication protocols (HTTP, TLS, gRPC, JSON, protobuf, and surrounding technologies).
  • Experience with installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of physical, virtualized, and containerized IT systems. Should encompass OS, TCP/IP networking, system security/access control, etc. via ansible, secure shell, iptables, host-based firewalls, and similar tools.
  • Experience with biometrics, DoD policies, and enterprise telecommunications is a plus.
  • Collaborate with QA, Development, DevOps, Security, and Architecture teams to ensure proper, defined performance specifications are maintained.
  • Provide data analysis, reporting, and support for complex biometrics projects.
  • Must possess the ability to ensure long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, be customer- and detail-oriented, and possess good decision-making abilities.
  • Assists and provides expertise with information assurance issues.
  • Supervises maintenance of systems.
  • Coordinates with all responsible users and sites.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline and 5 years of experience OR 8 years of direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline and 10 years of experience OR 10 years of direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education

Additional Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in:
    • Engineering, installing, configuring, managing enterprise-level servers (VMWare, Domain Controllers, Print/File servers, Proxy, etc.)
    • Information Technology (IT) focused on the implementation and operations of various cloud technologies to include: Amazon Web Services, MS Azure, milCloud, other cloud technologies, etc.
    • Image deployment (SCCM, etc.)
    • Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementation
    • Help desk Technologies (Remedy, etc.)
    • patch management (WSUS, SCCM, etc.)
    • Antivirus (Symantec, McAfee HBSS, etc.).
  • Associate or Professional Level Cloud certification in Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • Familiarity with any or all of the following, preferably in a biometric system context: Object-oriented development practices and processes, distributed computing technologies, web services, SOA, networking technologies, requirements management tools, scripting, automated test tools, modeling and simulation, and/or security certification and accreditation processes
  • MCITP certified (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge in Linux, Linux shells & scripting languages, Microsoft Windows/Office, JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, AWS, Azure, Openstack, CGP, VNC, and other similar products.
  • Experience with installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of physical, virtualized, and containerized IT systems. Should encompass OS, TCP/IP networking, system security/access control, etc. via ansible, secure shell, iptables, host-based firewalls, and similar tools.
  • Within 6 months of hiring, get DoD 8570 AIT level II Certification as specified at https://public.cyber.mil/cw/cwmp/dod-approved-8570-baseline-certifications/
  • US Citizen
