The Biometric Technician position on the Ideal Innovations, Inc. Defense Forensics and Biometrics Agency (DFBA) Examination Services Support (ESS) contract is the perfect position for you.
  • Working within a unique 100% digital environment, the Biometric Technician serves in a “front of the house” administrative role to receive, document and complete both external and internal tasks. On a daily basis, the Biometric Technicians work together as a team to provide critical operational support to the Biometric Examiners and Latent Print Examiners of the DFBA ESS in completion of non-examination-based tasks.
  • The ESS Biometric Technician position is a quintessential multi-tasking position. Routinely and working off of a set priority list, the Biometric Technicians are required to monitor both email on several different platforms and sFTP in order to quickly and efficiently receive incoming requests to the DFBA BOD Examination Services section.
  • The ESS Biometric Technician has a large impact on the operational efficiency of the DFBA BOD Examination Services section in handling all administrative, non-biometric examination tasks.
  • The ESS Biometric Technician candidate will have the opportunity to hone their skills in using the Microsoft Office Suite and Windows through day to day operational work. Also, the prospective candidate will have the opportunity to learn to look up and pull important data from the DoD ABIS database to fulfill certain tasks or requests for information.

Typical Day: The DFBA BOD Examination Services section is a 100% digital operation. Therefore, the typical day for a Biometric Technician consists of working on a Windows 10 computer and monitoring external submission routes (multiple email accounts and sFTP) for any incoming requests, while also completing any Examination Services internal requests such as sending latent print or biometric reports or necessary correspondence to other internal sections within DFBA BOD or external customers. The Biometric Technician will also answer the phone for the DFBA BOD Examination Services main line and effectively communicate any messages or transfer to the Biometric Examiners or Latent Print Examiners for customer requests.

Tasks:

Upon becoming a Biometric Technician on the I3 ESS contract, you will receive training to independently and competently complete daily tasks that may include, but not be limited to: 

  • Answer customer requests for information (RFIs) made via phone or email
  • Download and prepare incoming
    • biometric and latent print casework
    • manual comparison requests
  • Work within a casework management system to ensure accurate casework documentation
  • Complete special requests/projects from government sponsor that may include data manipulation or gathering of information that do not require examiner expertise
  • Issue examination results to submitting agencies
  • Record meeting minutes for weekly government hosted meetings
  • Provide detailed reports to external government agencies in accordance with maintaining data sharing agreements
  • Maintain and update necessary Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Provide necessary training to other new hire Biometric Technicians

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree with at least 2 years of administrative assistant experience or High School/GED with 7 at least years of administrative assistant experience.
  • Be able to obtain/maintain DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suites programs Word, Excel and Outlook.

Desired Qualification:

  • Ability to multi-task effectively to accomplish assigned tasks based on designated priorities.
  • Be customer and detail-oriented.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and good decision-making abilities.

Shift Information:

  • Be willing to potentially work shifts based off of a 24/7, 365 days a year schedule to include weekends and holidays
  • Day shift: 7am-5pm.
  • Candidates will have the option of working either 8 or 10-hour days for an indefinite period of time. Shift times are flexible and are up to the discretion of management based on the needs of the operation.

Physical Job Requirements

Meet the physical demands of working in a general office environment to include long hours working at a computer, either sitting or standing.

Clearance:       Current US Interim Secret Clearance and successfully obtain and maintain FBI/DOJ campus clearance
